We’re in this together (Covid,Lockdown,FreelancePhotography)

So this is one of my first blog posts ever and today i’m going to address the main thing that’s affecting everyone. Yes you guessed it. Covid 19 and the lockdown regulations that are affecting everyone. Im a relatively new professional photographer. Ive been taking pictures all my life but I only turned professional last year after taking a professional course. I like many that I studied with, and who worked in the field had high hopes for our field but unfortunately we are all faced with a significant drop in demand. Ive spoken to many photographer friends of mine and many are all saying the same thing. “Ive had all of my projects for this year cancelled. Anything from portraits to event photography seems to have been put cancelled. Two of the biggests hits in the field have most definitely come from the lack of weddings and events. I personally have had to make some side ways manoeuvres. I have had to become a little bit more creative in my ventures in order to sell my Services through other industries. I won’t go into too much detail but i’ve even had to lend myself to the field of interior design to maintain revenue. Im pretty sure that there are many photographers right now who are ‘racking’ their brains in order to maintain their revenue streams during this tough period. my question to anyone reading this who is also a photographer is “what are you doing to maintain your income?” Have you found a new niche to help you sell your services? Are you established enough that you have seen on a little to no drop in your demand? Or have you given upon completely and moved over into another field in order to maintain a decent living? Until everything returns back to normal, where do we go from here?
